Soft Tissue Fillers

Whether you want to restore youthful volume or add definition to specific facial features such as the nose, jawline, or lips, dermal fillers such as JUVÉDERM® at our Kalispell, MT, practice are a great option for facial refinement.

What Can Fillers Treat?

The versatility of dermal fillers is one of the reasons they are so popular. The range of fillers we offer enables our injectors to tailor a treatment plan to your specific needs. Fillers are widely used to reverse signs of aging related to volume loss. But they can also define and contour facial features for people of all ages.

Women and men considering dermal fillers for nonsurgical facial rejuvenation often want to address one or more of the following issues:

  • Nasolabial folds
  • Under-eye hollows, bags, and dark circles
  • Lines around the mouth and chin
  • Flattened or hollow cheeks
  • Jowls

For facial contouring, we can use fillers to:

  • Add definition to the cheeks
  • Create a more angular jawline
  • Enhance the projection of the chin
  • Improve the appearance of the nose
  • Augment thin lips

Because BOTOX® Cosmetic treats different concerns than fillers, such as crow’s feet, horizontal forehead lines, and frown lines between the eyebrows, we often perform BOTOX injections along with fillers for enhanced facial rejuvenation.

What Are the Differences Between Fillers?

The number of specialized fillers has increased dramatically over the past 10 years. Our injectors use these different formulations to create beautiful, natural-looking results on virtually any part of the face. Our specialists at Mountain West Plastic Surgery include board-certified plastic surgeons Dr. Michelle Spring and Dr. Michael Hromadka, along with our experienced certified physician assistant Kristy Ehrmantraut.

Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Fillers

The JUVÉDERM product line is formulated with hyaluronic acid (HA), a common ingredient in skincare products. Hyaluronic acid is a substance that’s naturally produced by the body and helps skin appear smooth and youthful. Both lines include thicker formulations for deeper injection, such as adding definition to the cheeks or jawline; formulations for use specifically around the mouth (nasolabial folds); as well as thinner, smoother formulations for delicate areas such as the lips and under-eyes.

The JUVÉDERM family of fillers includes:

Collagen Stimulators

A filler called Sculptra® Aesthetic that’s formulated with poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) stimulates new collagen production when the body absorbs the PLLA microparticles. Sculptra is injected in a series of treatments with results lasting up to 2 years.

What Happens During a Dermal Filler Treatment?

Because the fillers our injectors use are pre-mixed with a local anesthetic that numbs the area when injected, you should only feel a quick pinch with each injection. For more sensitive areas, such as the lips, patients sometimes request the application of a numbing cream. Your provider injects the filler using a short, thin needle, and the results appear almost immediately.

How Long Is Recovery After a Filler Treatment?

There is little to no downtime needed after filler injections. You may notice some swelling, redness, or slight bruising in the treatment area, which should resolve within a few hours. The duration of the results depends on the fillers used and the areas treated. Typically, fillers last from 9 months to 2 years, and scheduling periodic treatments can maintain the look you want.
