Power Assisted Liposuction
The board-certified plastic surgeons at Mountain West Plastic Surgery offer power-assisted liposuction in Kalispell to help Missoula and Whitefish women and men reduce excess fat deposits that do not respond to diet and exercise. This surgical procedure, which uses a vibrating cannula, is a great way to remove excess fat from many different areas of the body. Liposuction is not a substitute for good nutrition and exercise. The best candidates for liposuction are women and men who are within 10 to 15% of their goal weight but have localized fat deposits that will not go away.
Our Philosophy on Liposuction

Liposuction requires a very detailed analysis of the areas of excess fat. The procedure must be performed in a very meticulous manner to ensure no irregularities after surgery. We are all bothered by fat that will not go away even with a good diet and a good exercise routine, liposuction can be the answer.
Planning Liposuction Surgery

At your consultation, your surgeon will review your overall health, examine the areas of excess fat, and assess the elasticity of your skin. Some patients will only need liposuction; others may require more extensive procedures such as a tummy tuck to effectively meet their goals. At the consultation, all of your questions will be answered and you will be given specific instructions for what to do both before and after surgery.

Liposuction FAQ
How long does liposuction take?
In general, liposuction takes between one to two hours, depending on the size and number of areas to be treated.
Is liposuction done under general anesthesia?
Liposuction under a certain volume can be done under local anesthesia. If you require a significant amount of liposuction, this should be done under general anesthesia.
How long does it take to see the final results of liposuction?
Final results are typically seen 3 to 4 months after surgery because of swelling from the fluid injected into the targeted fat before surgery.
When can I go back to work after liposuction?
Patients will be able to go back to work within 2 to 3 days after liposuction. If large-volume liposuction was done in multiple areas, this may require up to a week off work.
When can I exercise after liposuction?
As long as you are comfortable, you may start exercising within four to five days after surgery. You should not do any heavy lifting over 10 pounds for the first 2 weeks after surgery.
Is there a nonsurgical alternative for fat reduction?
CoolSculpting® can be an effective fat reduction treatment for patients who want to avoid surgery. It can’t produce results as dramatic as those from liposuction, but it can minimize stubborn areas of fat in the abdomen, flanks, thighs, and upper arms.
